What’s the big deal about lifelong learning?

Lifelong learning consists of continuous learning throughout life with a purpose in mind. Learning doesn’t have to always take place in a classroom setting. In addition to the traditional classroom, there’s independent studying, online classes, tutoring and some people gets more out of their learning experiences by combining one or more learning formats. One has to find the formats that work for them. The generation Y and Z will excel through online classes using their iPhone easily but they probably wouldn’t understand the library catalog system. If Baby Boomers were always committed to lifelong learning, transitioning to various learning formats as they surface will enrich their learning experiences making them top achievers in the workplace and able to assist with the training of the future workforces. According to Jason Zeman, Associate Director, Sales Training and Development at Watson University, the future workforces will need encouragement to continuously develop themselves by giving them specific learning platforms and by streamlining their options because too much would put them on the defense and shut them down. With the steady advance in technology, there’s just too many ways to get information which make it necessary to streamline learning for the future workforces.  So, what’s the big deal about lifelong learning? Although, one cannot learn everything in a lifetime but as you learn you build confidence for learning destroys fear—a learned person knows that an action plan is required for every fear they may encounter!
